$10,000 Shari Braly Grant for Emerging Woman Restaurateur
Better Say Grace is the nom de guerre of first-generation Honduran American Grace Aguilar. Inspired by her Central American heritage and Louisianan roots, the talented young chef will soon launch a food truck focused on her unique brand of Honduran-Creole Cuisine. The project will be served by a shared garden in collaboration with East Austin community hub Origin Studio House, giving Aguilar an educational platform for her innovative cooking methods. Whether helping students at Connelly High School learn about Louisiana epicurean culture or providing fresh food to neighbors, Aguilar's work fosters social cohesion and economic empowerment.
Grant funds will be used to purchase a convection oven and other equipment used in her food truck and culinary classes.
